About the Event

Art Exhibition of textile paintings, titled 'Just Wanna". A solo show of bold textile looped canvases on that fabulous green wall.

Özlem Güler is a first-generation Zaza (Kurdish)-Turkish Australian, born and raised in Sydney. At 16, she studied Fine Art at Penrith and Meadowbank TAFE, with painting and darkroom photography as her primary disciplines.

Currently, themes that influence her work include the impact of women’s gendered labour and agency, social mores, domesticity, and bridging the experience of intergenerational ‘otherness’ and identity as a first-generation Australian.

Along with traditional fine arts practices, Özlem assembles and transforms ready-made materials and objects drawn from her family history.
